Tips for Traveling Around Niagara Falls

The hotel is booked and the tickets are purchased but perhaps there are a few extra details that could improve a trip to Niagara Falls and make travel within the city more efficient. These tips are intended to provide insight and assistance and to create a positive experience for visitors to Niagara Falls from all over the world.

Currency Exchanges

Currency exchanges are available all along Clifton Hill and at many of the visitor information centres, located at Journey Behind the Falls and Maid of the Mist. Also available at the visitor information centres are maps, updated schedules of the attractions, and travel counselors who can assist with a variety of questions and concerns.

Wireless Internet Connections

Wireless internet is now available at many of the large scale hotels (a few select smaller hotels and motels have them too and always be sure ask first about policies if they aren’t explained upfront). Radisson Hotel & Suites Fallsview, Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls, Imperial Hotel and Suites, and Sheraton Fallsview and Conference Center are just a few of the hotels who provide free internet access in room.

An internet cafe is located at the information centre on the corner of the 420 Hwy and Stanley Avenue. Additionally, the Internet Lounge is situated on Cattell Drive, near Marineland.

Clifton Hill Deals

Clifton Hill has packages available for many of its attractions, including Ripley’s Moving Theatre and the Skywheel. The packaged deals are a better price than paying for each individual attraction. Additionally, many of the hotels and information centres have coupon booklets with discounts for a variety of Niagara Falls attractions.

Meal Savings

Generally, meals are expensive no matter where one travels in Niagara Falls. Try purchasing breakfast bagels or lunch meals and snacks at one of the nearby grocery stores to save on expensive meal cost. Store perishables in a small cooler with ice or ask the front desk to keep any ice blocks frozen. If the hotel room itself has a mini refrigerator this is a perfect place to stash drinks and anything else that can be kept overnight and brought along during the day.

Many of the tourist centres also feature a Menus guide to restaurants around Niagara region with valuable coupons inside for some notable Niagara Falls restaurants.

Wheelchair Rentals

Wheelchair rentals are available at the Table Rock Centre, Floral Showhouse, and the Butterfly Conservatory as well as several other locations – check with the information centre. Most of the Niagara Parks attractions are wheelchair accessible and designed to accommodate those with disabilities in any way possible. Where wheelchair accessibility is limited, discounted admission is given to regular priced attractions.

Other persons with disabilities are more than welcome and encouraged to use their assistance devices at all of the attractions.
