SpaceX is an American aerospace manufacturing and space transporting giant. The company was established by Elon Musk in 2002.The goal behind Spacex was to reduce space transportation costs and to make in habitation on Mars possible. Over the years, SpaceX has developed multiple launch vehicles and rocket engines. It also developed the Dragon cargo spacecraft and the Starlink satellite constellation.
Over the time, SpaceX has earned a reputation for its endowments for enhancing space transportation. Spacex launched the first ever privately funded liquid-propellant rocket, Falcon 1 to reach orbit, in 2008. It was also the first ever private company to launch, orbit and recover a spacecraft. Spacex is also the first organization to send a spacecraft to the International Space Station.
SpaceX Starship
The SpaceX Starship system is a metamorphic, super heavy-lift launch vehicle. The Starship system has a booster stage called Super Heavy and a second stage known as Starship. The second stage will be made as a long-duration cargo ship and will be turned into passenger-carrying spacecraft eventually. The spacecraft will also work as an in-space long-duration orbital spaceship.
Starship is also supposed to work as the primary SpaceX orbital vehicle. SpaceX will gradually replace Falcon 9 and SpaceX Dragon 2 as orbital vehicles. Starship will take cargo to orbit at lower than any other launch vehicle. Elon Musk had predicted that the total cost of a launch could drop as low as US$2 million.
Starship SN-10 prototype lands, then explodes shortly after
Spacex Starship’s latest prototype SN-10 rocket completed its first booming landing on Wednesday. Although, the rocket exploded shortly after and was destroyed and engulfed in fire. The cause of the explosion is thought to be a fire caught in its fuel tank.
The Starship SN-10 prototype took off from Boca Chica, Texas on Wednesday. The rocket flew up to 6 miles then returned to its landing pad. Despite the accident, the scientists at Spacex have not lost their hope.
This test take off will assist in progressing the launch vehicle. There were no injuries or mishaps reported in the explosion.
