Uncut Gems is one of the best movies on Netflix that has attracted a large viewership. Howard Ratner is an established Jewish jeweler based in New York who deals with gambling addiction. He is a high roller gambler who, at one time, bets a lot of money from his jewelry store. He hopes to win, but this bet becomes the beginning of his downfall. He is at a crossroads balancing between business, his family, and gambling. 

High roller: The Stu Ungar Story

High roller: The Stu Ungar Story was released in 2003. The movie is based on a true story about Stuey Ungar, who started gambling while a teenager. Stuey perfected his gambling skills to become a global gambling superstar. 

Unfortunately, he is too obsessed with gambling that he dives deep into debts. Vincent offers to help him back to his feet on the condition that he wins a rummy competition in Vegas. He wins, and within no time, he is back to his high-roller lifestyle. 

The Gambler

In this 2014 movie, Mark Wahlberg plays Jim Bennett who is demotivated and feels nothing great about his life. He resorts to self-destruction and in the process, ends up borrowing up money from mobsters. The rest of the story is about how he masters his gambling game to wager successfully and pay off the debt. Gambling to win and save his life is what finally changes Jim’s life forever.
