Who is Masahiro Sakurai?
Masahiro Sakurai is a Japanese game designer, video game director and also a songwriter. He was born on 3rd August, 1970. He is popularly known for his work in the Kirby and Super Smash Bros series as the creator. Apart from his work in the massively popular series, he also led the designing of Meteos in 2005. Sakurai also worked as the director of Kid Icarus: Uprising in 2012.
He was a former employee relations at HAL Laboratory. He is also the founder of Sora Ltd. He started the company in 2005 and he still leads it. He also works as a weekly column author for Famitsu magazine. Not only that, he has also worked as a voice actor in some of his produced games.
In January 2015, Sakurai hinted towards the possibility of his retirement in his column in Famitsu. Sakurai talked about his inability to continue making games as his career was becoming stressful.
In December 2015, Sakurai stated again that he was not sure about another game in the Smash Bros. series, the news left some dedicated players sad. But, on 8 March, 2018 the announcement of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate left the players surprised. This announcement was contrived during a Nintendo Direct. The game was released in December, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch.
Why was Masahiro’s parody account shut down?
It is quite common for video game directors and producers to join social media and keep in touch with other companies and collaborative developers. This has been a blessing for the fans greatly. It allows the game directors and other producers to interact with their fans and keep them updated.
However, it has its own drawbacks. Some Internet trolls target these individuals and harass them in different ways. These accounts get in the way of video game companies or professionals which were made with the intention to trick others.
Recently an infamous parody account which was based on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Masahiro Sakurai was shut down. Sakurai has a massive following on Twitter. He makes his daily tweets in a “pic of the day” style. These pictures show off different angles of the work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
However, a Sakurai parody account with a similar layout was misleading the fans. The account actively trolled the Smash community for quite some time. It gained over 112,000 followers on Twitter. The parody account constantly posted deceiving leaks and obnoxious content. Recently, the fans noticed that the account became inactive.
The parody account was known for causing trouble for the fans by posing as Sakurai announcing outrageous characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The account also posted inappropriate images of characters from the game. The shut down of the parody account has brought a wave of relief for the fans.
