ROC Wins Gold In 4 Countries’ Teams Engage in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Finals

The Tokyo Olympics have finally kicked off amidst immense buzz and despite not having the regular hustle and bustle as with other years due to the lack of a live audience, people are just as excited to rally behind their countries and see them bring home accolades.

In one of the most awaited events, July 26, 2021, will see men from four countries put their best foot forward in a bid to bring home the glory in the Artistic Gymnastics finals. The event will be underway at 6 am ET, or 3:30 pm IST. The four countries that are all set to battle it out for the gold are Japan, Russia, China, and the USA.

After an intense final, the event saw ROC (Russian Olympic Committee) emerge victorious by bagging the gold medal after a blazing performance. Japan followed their brilliant performance and proved themselves as worthy competitors by taking home the silver, while China put together a formidable opposition as well, having taken home the bronze. ROC’s score in the final stood at 262.500, followed by Japan with 262.397 and China with a total of 261.894.

What do The Odds Look Like?

Going by the scores thus far, Japan is favored to win the event in their home ground, despite not having Kohei Uchimura on the team for the finals, who happens to be a long-time gymnastic star and has also been a part of three-medal winning teams.

Japan’s qualifying score stood at 262.251, followed at a close second by China, who bagged a score of 262.061. Russia followed suit with a solid score of 261.945, and the USA qualified with a score of 256.761.

While Japan, Russia, and China have been on similar turf before, having secured Gold, Silver, and Bronze respectively at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the progression to the finals for Team USA is history in the making, as they would be aiming to secure their first medal in men’s gymnastics at the Tokyo Olympics since 2008.

Forecasts however put Team USA at a considerable disadvantage as far as the finals are concerned, as the other three teams were pretty much neck-to-neck if one looks at their qualifying scores, with Team USA relatively lagging behind despite having a formidable score.

Additionally, each of the other three competing countries has won a Gold before, with Japan having secured it in the 2016 Rio Olympics as mentioned previously, China having secured it in the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, and Russia having secured it in the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
