Restoring and Fixing a Sagging Mattress Made of Memory Foam

You have probably ever purchased a memory foam mattress, only to notice a noticeable sag a few years later. Although the warranty may not be covered, the sag should not be significant enough to require a repair.

Don’t ignore it! Sagging memory foam mattresses can cause discomfort and lead to poor sleep quality. Lumpy mattresses can place pressure on your back and cause pain.

It is necessary to replace your mattress with the best queen memory foam mattress. Instead, you can make three changes to prevent sagging.

You Can Check the Mattress Foundation or Bed Frame

You may have a problem with your mattress foundation. Both mattress foundations, and bed frames, are designed to raise your mattress off of the floor and support you. Memory foam needs extra support as it is a heavier mattress material. Without enough support, you will see sagging areas.

The mattress warranty describes how the mattress should be supported. In any case, the warranty voids if the wrong support is used. If you already have a foundation for your mattress and don’t want another, you can reduce costs by placing 3/4″ of moisture-resistant plywood underneath the mattress.

Rotate or Flip Your Mattress

Rotating the memory mattress is a simple way to fix the sagging problem. Your mattress manufacturer recommends rotating it every three to four months. This reduces wear and tear and may extend the life expectancy of your mattress.

Modern memory foam beds use a single construction. It isn’t possible to flip the mattress. The support layers are at the base, and the comfort layers are at the top of the mattress. Flipping the mattress over so that the comfort layers are at the bottom can cause the bed to sink and lead to more sagging.

Dual-sided mattresses are the only memory foam bed that can and should also be flipped. Dual-sided mattresses have two sides. Each side can be a different firmness. If the manufacturer does not specify, other memory foam mattresses should not be flipped.

Add a Mattress Topper to or Pad

A mattress topper can be used to fix a sagging memory foam mattress. It isn’t the best option as a long-term solution, as the topper may sag at the same time as the mattress. Topper mattresses can add softness and firmness to uncomfortable beds. You can use them to give support and temporary relief for a mattress that is too soft or firm.

Toppers for mattresses are made from latex, memory foam, and polyfoam. These materials conform to your body’s natural curves. They also relieve pressure points. A latex topper is the best option if your mattress is sagging. Latex will give you more support because it is firmer than memory foam.

While they are cheaper and more supportive, polyfoam toppers can be found. They’re not the best options as they last less than one year, compared to latex topper, which lasts for three to five years.

A mattress that wont sag can be purchased online or in-store. Some mattress companies manufacture their own toppers that pair well with mattress models.

Mattress pads are less effective than mattress toppers in changing the feeling of a bed. Many people use mattress pads to reduce the wear and tear of their mattresses. Mattress pads provide cushioning rather than support and usually contain down polyester or cotton fibers.
