How to Prepare Progression and Series for CAT 2022 Exam

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based entrance examination conducted every year by IIMs for admission in MBA/PGDM programs at 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top business schools in India. It is India’s largest national-level MBA entrance exam.

It assesses a candidate’s quantitative, data interpretation, verbal, and logical reasoning abilities. The test is intended to assess students’ managerial abilities by assessing their analytical and communication abilities.

It’s crucial to do well in the quantitative aptitude section of the CAT exam if you want to crack it. One of the most important topics in the CAT 2022 Quantitative Aptitude section is progression and series. Every year, about 4-5 questions from the areas of progression and series are asked in the CAT Exam paper.

As a result, it is critical for applicants to be well-versed in the subject in order to ace CAT 2019. Some CAT Progression and Series questions might be difficult and time-consuming, while others can be simple. The key to acing this section is to rapidly determine if a question is solvable or not and to avoid wasting time on questions that are extremely difficult.

On that note, let’s discuss a level-wise study plan on how you can prepare progression and series to ace any question from it in the upcoming CAT exam.

To begin, understand the fundamental concepts and tricks of calculation so that you can rapidly apply them to questions.

The topic of progressions is one of the most important in the CAT, and many of the questions may be addressed by applying simple formulas. It’s crucial to grasp the concepts in order to prevent making dumb blunders.

Some important concepts to focus on include properties of Arithmetic Progression, Geometric Progression, Harmonic Progression, Nth term and the sum of AP and GP, properties of Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic Mean.

There is a probability that the exam questions may be direct questions based on the concept, thus it is a good idea to understand the fundamental ideas of Series and Progression.

Put the formulas on a piece of paper and hang them up where you can view them on a daily basis. It will assist you in remembering the formulas.

Questions based on a mix of A.P. and G.P., for example, may also require knowledge of other math principles like trigonometry, logarithms, geometry, and so on. You will be unsure how to proceed in the exam if you do not thoroughly prepare in these areas. As a result, you must practise multiple questions in order to construct and learn how to apply progression.

Solving previous years’ papers will make it much easier for you to tackle these questions.

Since so many questions are based on concepts that have already been featured in past entrance examinations, make sure you go over all of the different Progression questions from previous years of different exams.

Spend a significant amount of time each day on quantitative aptitude and measurement for the entrance exam you aim to take. The more time you spend answering the questions, the more comfortable you will become with them.

Besides keeping the aforementioned study plan in mind, be diligent, prepare carefully, and concentrate on building the capacity to absorb and apply concepts in many scenarios, in addition to following the aforementioned study schedule. Recognize your flaws and attempt to overcome them. Keep in mind that you are on a challenging path that will lead to a brighter future.

To summarise, students should stay focused and execute a strategy in order to ace the CAT exam and gain admission to their preferred B-school.
