We’ve seen celebrity friendships come and go but the Gwyneth and Robert’s relationship is unlike any other. The two stars have been seen side by side several times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The actress, 48, who played the role of Pepper Potts, assistant and future wife to Tony Stark/ Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr., says that her relationship with Robert was forged through all the Iron man and Avengers movies. “I feel like I was able to find an incredible, lifelong, inspirational partner and friend,” she added.
Where it all began
The chemistry between Stark and Potts began from early on in the First Iron Man film that hit the theatres back in 2008 where Iron Man follows RDJ as he depicts tycoon and virtuoso creator Tony Stark. A playboy who coincidentally turns into a superhuman otherwise known as Iron Man, his trusty P.A. Pepper Potts (Paltrow) is close by through everything. They are seen to soon develop a relationship outside of work and the romance between the characters continues growing throughout the MCU. Their story in the MCU is one of the biggest romances of the shared Universe, extending over all three Phases.
Their Chemistry in real life
Considering their Iconic Romance and the fact that the Paltrow has spent hours on set filming kissing scenes with Downey Jr., it came as a surprise when the Goop founder, during several interviews and through posts on the internet, opened up about their relationship in real life. Turns out their feelings for each other in real life are anything but romantic.
Robert Downey Jr., in one of his interviews has also mentioned how he has a “free pass” with her. He explained that there is nothing to worry about as his wife approves, since her and Paltrow are such good friends.
This gives us a look into the reality behind filing such blockbusters. Actors giving their best on set during shoots result in us movie goers being treated to such satisfying finished products.
The actor recently put up a post on Instagram wishing his Iron man co-star on the occasion of her birthday. The duo is seen happily posing for the camera at a side angle in the selfie that he uploaded, referring to the birthday girl as “a powerhouse”. The picture currently has over four million likes and people have extended their best wishes in the comments.
Their friendship will always be adored by the fans and everyone within the industry.
With Iron Man dead, there are significantly less chances of Pepper coming back into the action in Phases Four or Five. She was last seen with Morgan Stark at Tony’s lakeside funeral scene.
