Dev Patel is set on his new career venture as director and his first directorial debut is set to release in 2022,”Monkey Man” starring Shobhita Dhulipala from Made in heaven.
The movie’s plot is inspired by Hindu Deity Hanuman who was half man and half monkey, Dev will play the protagonist hero, a man who is just released from prison and now he’s eager to take revenge from everyone in the avaricious corporate world who did him wrong in the past.
Shobhita Dhulipala a Hindi actress is finalised for the female lead, this will be Shobhita’s Hollywood debut, she said in an interview that she did the audition for the film 5 years back and she just received the confirmation. Another Hindi actor is in the film, Anupam Kher’s son Sikander Kher.
Dev Patel has himself has penned the script for the movie with his old friend John Collee with whom Dev worked on Hotel Mumbai and Paul Angunawela. It is set to release in 2022, a deal is made with Netflix for $30 million for overall worldwide rights.
Shobhita recently took it on social media asking her fans to wish her luck, with hashtag #MonkeyMan. The film was shot during the Covid-19 Pandemic last year the shoot got wrapped up , the shooting was set to be done in India but due to the virus seriousness it got shifted to Indonesia. Shobhita said to sources that, “I enjoyed every second, I shot for Monkey Man during a global health crisis, which has its share of inconveniences but I didn’t find my journey during the film particularly challenging.”
