Fast and Furious 9, better known as F9, is the ninth main film in the famous Fast and Furious franchise. and tenth overall film after taking into consideration the 2019 spin-off film Hobbs and Shaw. The film was directed by Justin Lin, and co-written by him alongside Alfredo Botello and Daniel Casey. Originally slated for a worldwide release in April of 2020, the release was postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film was released internationally on May 19, 2021, while in the United States it was released on June 25, 2021. The film was praised for its direction and stunts, however, the formulaic script and lack of realism in the action sequences were consistent points for criticism. Being a franchise that has spanned 20 years, loyal fans are eager to know when and where the film can be digitally streamed, as the ongoing pandemic is still a factor that curbs many from watching films on the big screen.
The Premise of Fast and Furious 9
F9 reiterates the narrative of ‘family’ that has been present in the last few installments of the franchise, both figuratively and literally. Dominic Toretto and his team, who over the course of the proceedings of the franchise have grown to be more of a family to him, must assemble in order to bring an end to a conspiracy that could prove to be world-shattering. The literal iteration of family here is present in the fact that this conspiracy or operation is headed by Jakob Toretto, Dominic and Mia’s estranged brother.
Fast and Furious 9 Cast
The cast of F9 comprises most of those present in The Fate of the Furious including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, and Kurt Russell. Sung Kang returns to the series as Han Lue, whereas Dwayne Johnson is absent from the film. Jason Statham too is not seen throughout the film, however, he makes an uncredited cameo appearance as Deckard Shaw during the end credits. John Cena as Jakob Toretto is the newest addition to the cast.
Is F9 Available For Digital Streaming
After a rather successful run in theatres despite the restrictions posed by the COVID pandemic, F9 was recently made available for streaming online as Video-on-Demand through multiple platforms including Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Microsoft Movies, Vudu, FandangoNow, and Apple TV, for a fee of $20.
