Charlotte is a 2015 released anime television series that ran from July 5 to September 27, spanning 13 episodes clustered into a single season, in addition to an Original Video Animation (OVA). Unlike the traditional norm that is observed with anime, Charlotte does not borrow its storyline from any specific manga and uses an original storyline. There is, however, a manga series by the same name that began serialization two months prior to the premiere of the anime.
The series was directed by Yoshiyuki Asai, while the storyline was penned by Jun Maeda. The onus of producing the show was undertaken jointly by P.A Works and Aniplex. Critical reception to the series has been polarizing, with praise being directed towards the unpredictability of the proceedings primarily, while the pacing and structure were subject to criticism. There’s a lot of speculation regarding whether or not the show is bound for renewal. Read on to know more.

The prime objective of the academy is to safeguard those which such abilities from people or organizations who could exploit or misuse them. The series hereon traces Yuu’s journey in the use of his powers, and how he leverages them to prevent the exploitation of people with other such abilities.
Will Fans Get to Witness a Second Season?
The first season did bring the story arc to a conclusion and given that the anime follows an original plot, there isn’t a ready storyline in place to take the anime forward. The makers haven’t revealed anything on this front either. Fans are of the opinion that since there were a lot of elements crammed into the first season, one or more from these could be explored deeply with an entirely new season. However, the likelihood of this happening is highly unlikely.
