KonoSuba, known officially as KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! is a beloved anime series that draws inspiration from the light novel of the same name as its source material. Released across two seasons in the years 2016 and 2017, the series went on to gain widespread popularity owing to its strong set of characters and has gone on to almost become a cult classic in the anime culture.
The series was helmed by Takaomi Kanasaki as director and Makoto Uezu as writer. Spread across two seasons thus far, the show boasts a total of 20 episodes, along with an OVA that was released shortly after the close of the second season. KonoSuba Premise
The show’s premise presents its own interpretation of what the afterlife may be like and takes the viewers on a journey of the same through the eyes of its lead protagonist, Kazuma Satō. Kazuma met an unfortunate demise caused by a heart attack while trying to save a girl from an oncoming truck, which in reality was just a tractor.
Post his demise, he gets transported to the afterlife, which resembles an RPG (Role-Playing Game). Here he meets a goddess named Aqua, who along with a knight named Darkness and a magician named Megumin, accompanies him on his various journeys and quests.
What is the Recent Buzz Surrounding Season 3?
Despite a long wait, the expectations for a third season of the beloved anime series were always sustained as the makers and staff associated with the project have expressed their interest in progressing the storyline. This interest took shape in 2019, although it was in the form of a film titled KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! Crimson Legend. Fans however still kept their hopes for a third season alive, and the wait may have just seemingly paid off.
On July 18, 2021, KonoSuba‘s official Twitter page announced that a new project for the series was in production. All is not pink and rosy, however, as there is yet to arrive a confirmation on whether this new project would be a third season for the series or a second film. This is still good news for the fans, as it does pose an eventuality where a third season would come into being. Only time will tell what form this new project takes up.
