Star actor Simone Ashley to Lead Opposite to Jonathan Bailey in ‘Bridgerton’ season 2

“Spoiler alert” as Sex Education star ‘Simone Ashley’ has landed a female lead role for the show Bridgerton Season 2. Netflix has confirmed this news to ‘Variety‘ as she will star opposite Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony in the show. She will be playing Kate Sharma, who in the show is Anthony’s romantic interest.

A short history on the show so far

The Netflix show “Bridgeton” is based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels. The show is set in the competitive world of Regency London high society. The show first premiered on December 25 and is based on romance and marriage between the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne who is played by actress Phoebe Dynevor, and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings who is played by actor Rege-Jean Page. In the show, Anthony is the oldest of the Bridgerton clan and he is begrudging his pursuit for marriage. In the first season, Anthony is seen in an on-again-off-again relationship with opera singer “Siena” who was played by actress Sabrina Bartlett finally end.

The second season will be based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me.” In this season, we can see people of all races in a British High Society, which by the way is a reimagined world that was established in the first chapter.

The series also features Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, and Bessie Carter. And also, Veteran star Julie Andrews stars as a voice actor in the role of  “narrator Lady Whistledown” who is the author of the scandalous society pages.

About the new character

In season 2 of Bridgeton, we will see Simone Ashley playing her role as ‘Kate Sharma’. Kate Sharma is an Indian descent girl. She has newly arrived in London and is new to the place and its social events. She is a smart, headstrong, and independent woman who is not to be fooled around. So, it will be really tough for Anthony to win over Kate.

Ashley is best known for her role in a hit Netflix show ‘Sex Education’ as “Olivia”, who by the way is a really mean girl in the show. Other than that, she has also starred in “The Sister,” “A Working Mom’s Nightmare,” “Casualty,” “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” and “Broadchurch.” Netflix has stated that the first season of the show “Bridgeton” is the most-watched original series to date.
